Star War Galaxies: A Journal of Exploits

21 June 2005 - Blue with Tentacles
My friend Melanikus finally got his butt online and has created his traditional Star Wars preference of a blue female Twi'lek, who goes by the name of Adiera Derool. Adiera is doing quite well and has already successfully quested a landspeeder! In other news the old man turned up again and gave me a new force crystal.

13 June 2005 - The Trouble with Sith
. . . is they're level 77! There's two of them! They take ages to show up and only did so when I was miles from anywhere at the Rebel Base on Corellia. I killed them, but needed help so couldn't recover the force crystal. Grinding hard now, need to level quick and get that crystal back!!

13 June 2005 - Finally!!

10 June 2005 - Return to the Warren & Rebel Special Forces
With the force surging through me, and having finally reached level 54, I decided to complete the last badge needed to gain the famous old man's attention. The last badge was actually one I'd attempted before, the badge of compassion, one of the Warren quests, but due to a bug I never got the badge. With my new RSF friends we decided to venture back to that terrible place. This time it hadn't been cleaned out, so we had to do the dirty work ourselves (including fighting an AT-ST with the mind of a krayt dragon . . . ). After a few early errors we made it through. The RSF's home town is Fort Ootinni, just next to Fort Tusken!

31 May 2005 - Random Adventures
I've now joined the RSF.

29 May 2005 - Krayt
I think I found a nest! I counted five grand krayt dragons!! I made sure I legged it before my mask scent failed under the odor of soiled Ubese Armoured pants. In other news I'm grinding towards level 54, at which point I can hopefully use some half-decent guns.

27 May 2005 - The Killing Fields
Met and hunted with the guys from Rebel Special Forces who are pretty kewl and have a few jedi amoung their number. SWG now has multi-person vehicles!

25 May 2005 - Respec
Reactivated account after a seven month gap. Things have certainly changed! The combat system has been over-hauled in a big Combat Upgrade and there have been numerous other changes, small and large. After coming to terms with the fact that my house (and all its belongings) was gone, I met up with Branon again and went killing stuff.

20 October 2004 - War!
My guild, the RCLP has now been absorbed into a new guild - No Fear (NF), which has its home on Dantooine. I heard on the Guild chat that an attack was in progress on Tatooine (near the Krayt Dragon graveyard) against an Imperial base. I arrived to find about a hundred Rebel players, including something like twenty Jedi! The Rebel force swiftly delt with several units of storm troopers and AT-STs and made good work attacking the base. Unfortunatly a sith led counter attack killed most of the rebels. There was also a random attack by a rare ancient Krayt dragon, which appeared out of the desert! Real Life interfered and I had to abandon the battle before its conclusion. In other news, Branon kindly trained Baal the Bantha to work as a mount and to stand on its head.

19 October 2004 - The Warren
After completing the Warren quests on Dantooine with Dizzy and Branon, I saw and fought my first Sith! The Sith had turned up at Dantooine's starport and was in the process of killing just about everything in sight. I died within seconds, but then another Jedi turned up! The two battled for some time and eventually the Jedi triumphed over the evil Sith. Seeing Jedi in action was amazing and just makes me want to be one all the more!

08 October 2004 - I dream of Naboo
Some further shots of Naboo, including Princes Amidala's beach retreat.

15 September 2004 - Adventures in Ubse armour
My good friend and fellow RCLP member Branon was kind enough to buy me a complete set of Ubse armour. My mind points are a little too low to wear the whole suit unless I consume large quantites of Venusian Brandy. I've completed the missions for the warboss Nym on the desert moon of Lok and my sense of the Force is growing. I've also now mastered the Marksman profession. I've been testing out these new skills (with varying degrees of success) against Droid Deka and Tusken Raiders. I've spent a lot of time fighting killer teddy bears on Corellia, but frankly killing them is just too upsetting. I've also travel to Naboo and taken a look around the royal palace.

07 September 2004 - Jabba the Hutt
I decide to try to earn the badge of Jabba's trust and begin running errands for some of his lower henchmen. Slowly but surely I am allowed further into the palace, until finally I earn an audience with the great Jabba himself!

05 September 2004 - Skywalker
After completing the missions for Mon Mothma at the abandoned rebel base, I travel to Yavin 4 where I run missions from an ancient temple. The missions are certainly hard and I spend a lot of time running away from huge monsters in the surrounding jungle (not to mention being gunned down by storm troopers). Finally I get to meet a certain Jedi-in-training and complete the Rebel missions. I can now feel a faint sense of the force . . .
I decide that I need to try to earn a few more badges and travel to several of the Points of Interest (POI's) on Tatooine. My bantha, which I've called Baal has grown quite a bit, but still not enough to ride. Or to learn his own name. Near to the crashed escape pod used by C3-P0 and R2-D2 I find and tame a baby dewback.

03 September 2004 - The sights of Dantooine
SWG has some amazing enviroments, which are fun even just to explore.

02 September 2004 - Tusken Raider
After completing the rebel missions on Corellia for Princes Leia, I'm told to travel to the moon of Tatooine, Lok, in order to meet with a certain scoundrel. Twarted in my immediate aim to become a Jedi, I decide that it might be kewl to travel about the desert dressed as a Tusken Raider, riding a Bantha. I buy as many of the Tusken Raider items as I can, including a bio-engineeered Bantha, but the final pieces require me to kill some Tusken Raiders, which is a damn hard thing to do. After many deaths, I finally have all the bits, though my Bantha turns out to be a bit smaller than I expected. The Lok rebel missions are at least a lot more exciting than the Corellia ones and include a show down with a Bounty Hunter! My missions on Lok completed, I return to Tatooine before heading out to the abandoned rebel base on Daantooine. As I arrive at the base, I nearly have a heart attack as I spot the fabeled old man, who is meant to invite those with enough experience to travel to the force sensitive villiage. Unfortunatly he's there for someone else and tells me to go away.

01 August 2004 - Hunting
Membership of the guild allows me some opportunites to fight much tougher stuff than I would otherwise alone. Along with other RCLP members we take down a kimo dragon and a krayt dragon. Well actually the Krayt got away after killing us, but excitment was provided by my first sighting of a jedi - a sith. He turned up just as the Krayt was running off (they move fast) and dissappeared after it pretty much as soon as we spotted him. After a fight with an imperial player who had disintergrated my speeder in Ancorhead, I'm switched to overt rebel status, meaning that any imperial player can attack me. In desperation I try attacking an AT-ST in my pants. Fortunatly death restores me to covert status.

12 July 2004 - Their only hope
Rumours seem to be indicating that gaining Jedidom will be in some way related to the particular badges a player has recieved from completing certain quests. I travel to Corellia and travel for miles to the middle of no where to find the current Rebel base. SWG is set in between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, so Princes Leia is holed up here to escape Darth Vaders crack down on the rebels. My first missions are recieved from C3-P0 and are a lot more fun than just shooting wamp rats. I've built up some scout and medic skills now as well as focusing on Marksman, so I can actually shoot stuff. I also join a guild The Ravin Crazy Looney Party which has its base on Corellia. The rebel base is isolated, but there are still lots of storm troopers about to watch out for, not to mention evil imperial players.

27 June 2004 - I hate the Empire as much as anyone
After some research on the internet, I discover that becoming a Jedi is the hardest thing to achieve in SWG and that it is no way related to the brawler profession. I also find out that I can't even become a Jedi at the moment, because nobody can until the next game update is published and even then no one knows what you have to do to become one. Disgruntled I journey out from Mos Eisley for the first time and travel across the desert to Ancorhead, where I join the Rebellion.

15 June 2004 - A Long Time Ago
Following some heavy drinking and a mistaken decision to instal the 14 day free trial of SWG at 1am, Lowan G'ie is born on the Chilstern server on Tatooine. After arriving as an Imperial refugee, I wander around the sprawling mass of Mos Eisley staring in amazement at pretty much everything. Not realizing quite how mistaken I am, I decide to become a brawler as I think the fencing skills will help me later on with my lightsaber, which I'm bound to get any day.
